Things I love Thursday

Some things I have loved…very much…this week:

the warmth seeping through me from a friend simply holding my hand,

the hum of the kitchen at my favourite cafe,

the shelter of my sweet protective husband,

sleep…deep dark sleep…

the sweet taste of hot honey tea,

a breakfast of champions cooked by my son,

a genuine apology…too rare these days,

a midnight text message full of love,

the dark blanket of endless sleep…

strong, powerful words of courage,

an unexpected call to fight, and a cheer from the gallery above,

sweet, rich, homemade baked cheese cake with a son who listens,

tears,

watching someone I thought was lost follow her dream…magik,

finding a moment to be grateful for against the full scorpion moon,

long hot showers…

soft woollen blankets…

sleeping

until

tomorrow.

Day 114

It feels as if the universe is conspiring to keep me in bed this week. I had a lovely long luxurious weekend relaxing and watching movies and the like ~ By the time I was heading back to work I was feeling awesome, then the next moment I was invaded by Winter germs!

Cough!! ** Splutter** Erg  >.< *heads back to bed*…

Still, there is so much to be grateful for!

Things I have loved this week: Staying home in my slippers and pyjamas sucking on throat lozenges and drinking herbal tea; overdue cuddles with the koala; little puppies~way too adorable; dragon egg bubble baths from Lush and coconut oil naps; being surrounded by my loud and crazy family for lamb roasts and rich decadent chocolate cake; amazing rambling conversations; endless emails with my best friend; seeing butterflies everywhere; French comedies that make you giggle and cry; the thrill of painting again; giant hugs with giant sons; Kylie on The Voice ~ squeeeeee!! Reading late into the night; luscious romantic dinners with my husband; and this beautiful song…

Things I love Thursday!

Today I was reminded of how extremely fortunate and lucky I am in my life. I wake up every day to a man who I love to bits, and who loves me back. I go to work with a group of inspirational people who work incredibly hard to make the world a better place for the young people we work with. I am endlessly blessed by four beautiful sons, the extraordinary women in their lives and a grandson who brings us all light and love. I live in a safe corner of the world ~ an educated, free woman who gets to influence the world around us. I have dear friends and an even dearer extended family…why am I telling you this? Because it seems to me that we are taught to live a life from a place of ‘lack’. Our focus always seems to be tuned into what we don’t have. We easily see what is wrong, bad, sad or horrendous most of the time and frankly, it’s crap for our health and our fragile spirits. Things I love Thursdays is about opening our eyes and our hearts and changing our mindset to focus on the beautiful, the blissful moments in our day, the luminous. I get seriously excited looking back over the week and remembering what I have loved. It brings me joy. It makes me happy and reminds me that this is what my life is all about. It reminds me that I am living an extraordinary and beautiful life.

Things I have loved this week: having my little grandson snuggle with me all day long; drawing endless butterflies in my brand new sketch book; getting a phone call from Jaz, one of my sons, after his acting class~the complete joy and excitement in his voice says it all! Putting on my brand new black and white Mary Janes; sitting in my new favourite cafe and having the warmth and hum of conversation wrap around me; popping on my cute new Hello Kitty onesie~so much pink, very kawaii; a hug from my beautiful girlfriend just when I needed it; having my adorable sick husband hunt down a movie for me to watch…such a sweetheart; warm fresh scones, jam and cream-there are no words! An awesome lunch in the middle of a work day with an equally awesome and inspiring friend; getting creative with my journal; writing short stories and poems again; hot milky cups of coffee in the middle of the night with my boys; my beautiful son Paris who is wise beyond words; crying, but feeling better for it; people who are unexpectedly kind and generous to me when I most need it; fluffy monster slippers; dreams of my teenage mutant ninja turtle; having over 200 likes for one of my posts!! WOW! Lush coloured pencils to paint and draw with; Planning overseas trips and weddings…getting a bit excited; and this song…

Things I love Thursday

easterOne of the things I love about Easter is hanging out with the people that are most precious to me; my family and closest friends. Easter marks the start of colder weather at this end of the world. Day light savings ends, the last of the humidity vanishes, and the we spend the long weekend eating and talking and watching movies together after spontaneous chocolate induced afternoon naps.

So many things to love this Thursday: my grandson hanging out in his bear suit~incredibly cute; interviewing some creative Japanese artists and musicians – such kawaii; freshly baked hot crossed buns with real butter and endless hot cups of tea; red sparkle cup cake surprises on my desk from the most precious cup cake faeries in my life! Loud and crazy family dinners; plotting and planning holidays and weddings…much romance, such excite! Yummy fish cooked by my mother in law who can transform anything into a schnitzel! Sweet smelling candles; late night cuddles and kisses with my love; exploring volunteer opportunities in my neighbourhood; cosplaying…because I can; hot coffee and long chats into the night with my precious friend; buying beautiful exotic tea cups and matching saucers – old school and so much fun; traditional lamb roasts; brightly wrapped chocolate Easter eggs and Greek biscuits; laying in bed reading…*sigh*

Things I love Thursday

It can be tricky to focus on the things that you are grateful for and that you totally love, when you are feeling like a rotten little egg. That said, choosing to see the good, the light, and the immortal will help you to breathe, and pull you up into the world of the living again. Sometimes, though, you need to kick your own ass and choose to be happy not matter what is going on around you.

So having dutifully kicked my own bum a few times and dragged myself out of bed and reminded myself to see the butterflies…here are the things I have genuinely loved this week:

Mad mental health dashes to Office Works to smell the rows of stationery with my friends Diana and Rodrigo; finding some amazing purple boxes to hide treasures in; starting my Gala Darling Radical Self Love Bible; going a little overboard in the craft section at KMart and the $2 Shop but loving the heart stickers, glue, textas and sparkle awesomeness; sending love to my adorable niece for her birthday and plotting when I can see her next; cosplay photo shoots in the most amazing gardens up in Emerald with my stunning friend Neko (Leia) and our photo guru Neil Creek; finding out that our show has been accepted for a community television station season ~ yes we ran around the kitchen and jumped up and down!! Oh my flipping god! Indulging in Easter treats (of which there are way to many) until I have a chocolate belly ache; sinking into Cristian’s arms to sleep; morning coffee, hazelnut flavouring (amazing right?) and chats with the beautiful Nikolai; singing Titanium at the top of my lungs while I wait in a very long and slow queue to get into the carpark at Supanova; drinking wine and watching Saving Mr Banks; and holding hands with my love~bliss!

DAY 92

Life is not always perfect. No matter how much you would like it to be. Sometimes bad things happen. This past week has been a crazy week for me, with many sickly moments. But in between the shadows and dark ‘kill me now’ thoughts while I lay on the bathroom floor, have been some beautiful and much needed things happen that I love and am very grateful for.

Things I have loved this week: watching my nephew perform with his band, A Gazillion Angry Mexicans, at their EP launch – yes he is a rock star! sitting in the backyard growing my vitamin D levels in the Autumn sunshine; singing wildly in my pyjamas; smelling perfume samples from my favourite Chanel line and keeping them in my bag; browsing through Alannah Hill’s new Winter range ~ LOVE, LOVE, LOVE; late night walks through the city; ice cream; dinners with my family; my bed; chocolate Easter eggs and hot cross buns; waking up to find my worried husband next to me on the floor; getting an awesome swag pack from the producers of the indie film Waterborne; more sleeping; handing out awards to amazing inspirational young people doing everything from fundraising to volunteering at a women’s refuge; my growing collection of heart necklaces; cuddles and kisses with my adorable grandson; hydralyte icypoles ~ thankyou to who ever thought of putting together these electrolyte chargers! *sigh*

DAY 86

The weather is starting to get much cooler in this part of the world. Summer barely hangs on into the late afternoon. Rain is beginning to fall. The moon and stars are often still out as I make my way to work in the early morning. It’s beautiful. There is so much to love and be grateful for this past week: birthday gift shopping for my younger sister; yummy butter chicken; my crazy Gala Darling challenge filled with bubble baths, endless chocolate and sending gifts in the snail mail; the smell of fresh flowers; kisses in the kitchen; hanging out with my sons, just loving them to bits; writing until way past my bedtime; sinking into soft white sheets; experimenting with core desired feelings and their impact on achieving my goals; endless learning and exploring; being surrounded by goddesses; laughing at kooky cat videos online; playing with words; focussing on happy days…and happiness; watching another beautiful anime ~ 5 centimetres per second with Cristian; loving KPop Star and party drinks; digging out my Winter woollies and waking up to morning rain ~ yay!!
